Mountain lakes

Seebensee, Drachensee, Igelsee, Dreiensee

The mountain lakes of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena are true natural jewels. At an elevation of 1,675 meters, Seebensee delights hikers, bikers, and nature lovers alike with its turquoise blue water and breathtaking mountain panorama. Surrounded by Sonnenspitze, Tajakopf, and the Zugspitze massif, the lake offers stunning views. It is accessible from Ehrwald or Biberwier via easy hiking trails or climbing paths.

At 1,910 meters, the crystal-clear Drachensee is 28 meters deep. This mountain lake is located slightly above Seebensee and below Coburger Hütte. As the highest lake in the region, it has frosty water temperatures, yet there are always brave souls who take a dip in the chilly waters.

Above the Ehrwalder Alm and at the foot of Igelkopf, mountaineers will find a small, charming mountain lake at 1,585 meters, surrounded by pastureland. Depending on the weather and water level, Igelsee is visible on the way towards Leutasch/Gaistal and accessible from the Ehrwalder Alm on the route to Seebensee. In some maps, Igelsee is labeled as Negelsee or Egelsee.

Dreiensee (also known as Treiensee) lies at an altitude of around 1,843 metres in the Lechtal Alps, above the Tyrolean village of Namlos.
